A popular BTS fanpage on Instagram also shared a post that read, "Namjoon bro what was the point of reading Feminist Literature & Hoseok what was the point of making songs for empowering women when y'all are going to do is vibe in a concert of a known woman beater and absuer and a Diddy supporter.. Not to mention Zionists." The post quickly gained traction, with thousands of likes and comments.
The criticism reflects a broader expectation that BTS members should align their personal actions with the messages they promote through their music and public speaking. Over the years, BTS have partnered with UNICEF for the Love Yourself campaign, which aimed to end violence against children and young people. They have delivered speeches at the United Nations about self-acceptance and the importance of spreading kindness. RM, in particular, has been open about reading feminist literature and has frequently engaged in discussions about gender equality. J-Hope has also been recognized for his uplifting music and his messages of empowerment. For many fans, the concert attendance feels like a direct contradiction of those values.
A divided fanbase
While the backlash has been loud, not all fans are taking the same position. Some have argued that attending a concert or taking a backstage photo does not automatically mean endorsing everything an artist has ever done. They point out that both Usher and Chris Brown have made significant contributions to R&B and hip-hop, and that it is possible to enjoy their art without endorsing their alleged personal behavior.
